Neighborhood Matching Grant Program
Friends provides matching funds to neighborhoods who are raising money for park improvement projects. Matching grants ranges from $100 – $10,000 enabling communities in the Tampa to fund positive changes in their neighborhood parks. These dollars help groups fund playgrounds, exercise equipment, signage, fencing, plantings, and much more!
Tampa Parks and Recreation Department's Planning, Design & Natural Resources Team is responsible for park planning, parkland acquisition, park master planning, design, and construction oversight for the development of new - or renovation of existing - neighborhood, community and regional parks, greenways and trails, and open space throughout the City.
The neighborhood’s representative should first discuss the proposed project with a Parks and Recreation staff member. Please contact the Superintendent of Planning and Design, Brad Suder at 813-274-5141. The level of detail required will vary according to the type and scope of the project. The proposal must include appropriate plans and details. Please allow 30 days for processing.
The purpose of the proposal is to provide community organizations who wish to raise funds and contribute to the design and construction of improvements within the City of Tampa's parks and recreation facilities. The Parks Improvement Proposal Form allows an organization the means to submit a project proposal for review and approval of staff.
Please see Park Improvement Proposal for more information. Only neighborhoods who are raising money and have a Park Improvement Proposal approved by Tampa Parks & Recreation Department are eligible to request a matching grants from the Fiends.
Once your Park Improvement Proposal is approved by the City of Tampa and your fundraising program is developed, email Kitty Lyons, Executive Director, Friends of Tampa Recreation, [email protected], to discuss a matching grant.
