Since 1988 , the Friends of Tampa Recreation, Inc. (FOTR) has supported, through various fund-raising activities, the invaluable programs of the City of Tampa Parks & Recreation Department. FOTR is a 501(c)(3) organization consisting of community volunteers, active participants and individual citizens.

Friends seeds new ideas, rewards initiative and enables other to help promote access and interest in the leisure amenities of Tampa. Over the years, Friends has contributed thousands of dollars toward achieving these goals. As an enabling organization, FOTR has made possible a roving arts and crafts program for inner city children, uniforms for co-ed youth sports leagues, field trips for senior citizens and people with disabilities, and has purchased equipment for community centers ad playgrounds.

Leisure services are a vital part of any community. Recreational experiences reduce stress and provide opportunities for learning and living a more balanced, productive life. With the many social and economic challenges facing recreation agencies across America today, we need our Friends!
